Custom Task Statuses

Clasp lets you define your own task statuses beyond the defaults. Statuses help your team track where a task is in your firm's workflow. Clasp comes with a built-in review chain — Staff Review, Senior Review, Principal Review, and Partner Review — which you can use as-is or customize to match your firm's structure. Each status gives your team a shared vocabulary for tracking work from start to finish. You can use these defaults as-is, or build a completely custom set of statuses that matches your firm's procedures.

View and manage statuses

Open the status management view to see every task status available in your firm. This is where you view existing statuses and add new ones. Any changes you make here are visible to everyone in the firm immediately.

  1. Go to Tasks in the sidebar.

  2. Click Customize.

  3. Review the current status list, including any custom statuses your firm has created.

Create a custom status

Add a new status to match your internal workflow. This lets you extend the default list with labels that reflect how your firm actually works. The new status appears in the status dropdown whenever anyone creates or edits a task.

  1. In the status management view, click + Add Status.

  2. Enter a Name for the status.

  3. Click Save.

Edit or delete a status

Click the status name to edit it, or click the delete icon to remove it.

Warning: Deleting a status that is currently assigned to tasks will remove that status from those tasks.

Note: Custom statuses apply across all tasks in your workspace — they are not case-specific.
