Set Up a Flat Rate Fee

Flat rate fees let you charge a fixed price for a defined service — such as a consultation, document review, or court appearance — without hourly billing.

Create a flat rate product

Flat rate products are reusable catalog items you can apply to any invoice in your firm.

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Navigate to the Flat Rate sub-tab.

  3. Click + New Flat Rate Product.

  4. Enter the Product Name, Price, and Description. Use a clear, descriptive name that matches how your firm describes the service to clients.

  5. Click Save.

The new product is available immediately when you create or edit an invoice.

Apply a flat rate fee to an invoice

When creating or editing an invoice, add the flat rate product as a line item. The fixed price is pulled from the product automatically. You can combine flat rate fees with time entries and expenses on the same invoice.

Tip: Create reusable flat rate products for services your firm offers regularly — you can then apply them to invoices across multiple cases without re-entering the details each time.

Note: Flat rate fees appear in the Flat Rate tab in both the global Billing view and within each case's Billing tab.
